I’m Arlene, a senior leader and researcher in health and social care with a passion for making services better, fairer, and more human. Over the years, I’ve worked across care homes, community services, and national networks, helping organisations raise standards, embed rights-based practice, and deliver care that people truly deserve. What sets me apart is the mix of hands-on experience and academic depth. I’ve managed frontline services, shaped national policy, and carried out doctoral research into dementia and ageing. That means I don’t just talk about improvement—I know how to make it happen, whether it’s turning around a struggling service, designing inspection-ready frameworks, or co-producing resources with the people who use them. I’m recognised for championing inclusive innovation—from tackling taboo areas like sexual wellbeing in care, to advancing intersectional approaches that ensure no one is left behind. Along the way, I’ve published, trained, and spoken internationally, but what drives me most is seeing real change on the ground: safer services, empowered staff, and communities that feel valued. At heart, I’m an empathetic strategist. I believe care should be both compliant and compassionate, and I love helping teams find that balance.
